Carroll ISD Board Trustee Place 1 race adds a new entrant
Is it now clear who the eventual winner will be for Carroll ISD Board Trustee Place 1?
The Carroll ISD Board Trustee race for Place 1 got even more interesting Thursday, when longtime Southlake resident Christy Stacy entered the already crowded field, joining Natan Ton, Marissa Mahon, and Heather Curtis in vying for the open seat.
In a recent post, I wrote, that “On election day either Nathan Ton or Marissa Mahon or Heather Curtis will be elected to Place 1. Barring some unforeseen changes, that is.” Stacy’s entrance is less an unforeseen circumstance than a foregone conclusion.
Let me be candid
When I wrote the statement above about the then-three candidates for Place 1, I knew the most important element was the last sentence. I had a feeling someone else would enter the race. Most importantly, I sensed that a candidate who could instantly galvanize support would emerge. In my opinion, Christy Stacy is that person.
First, let me say, I have no inside information about why Ms. Stacy decided to run or what her entry into the race means for the other participants. I have known Mitch and Christy for more than four years and I think highly of them. They are great people, hard workers, and bleed green. I have known Mitch longer than I have known Christy, but what I know of Christy Stacy comes from a conversation we had via phone in 2021.
From that conversation I came away thinking, she is thoughtful, devoted to creating the best educational experience for all Dragons, and committed to ensuring that all kids are treated equally.
I also know she comes with a lot of cachet.
A Dragon graduate along with her husband Mitch
Deep, multi-generational roots in Southlake
Kids enrolled in CISD
Heavy involvement in the district
Well-connected and beloved by a large swath of the community
Do these add up to a winning combination? We’ll see, but signs point to yes.
