I hope I've earned your support for re-election to Southlake City Council
Serving the city of Southlake is a privilege. If re-elected, I'll continue to fight for the kids, families, and businesses of Southlake.
In July of 2019, just two months after I was elected to Southlake City Council, I had dinner with a group of friends, one of whom asked me a question that, as it turns out, I get asked all the time.
“Why would you run for elected office and serve in a role that doesn’t pay?” he asked. “Why would you ever put up with that headache?”
The words that came out of my mouth were words I’d never said or even thought of before.
“I pour my heart into my daughters, who I hope are immensely successful,” I said. “I do it not just because that’s what I’m supposed to do, but also because I know what they are capable of, and I think they deserve the best. But, you know what, they are never going to cut me a check for all that I’m doing for them. Yet, I’ll benefit all the same through seeing them reach their potential. That’s my reward; it’s the same with serving the city. The benefit I get is far more than any tangible payment.”
Nearly three years later, I find myself saying that a lot, especially of late when the national media has pointed their proverbial cannons at the community. What I say privately is what I publicly.
“I didn’t run for office to be a politician or to be liked or known. I ran because I thought then that no one would fight as hard as I would for the kids, families, and businesses of Southlake. I still believe as much.”
Please support my re-election campaign
I'm proud of the work the city of Southlake and the City Council continues to do for the community. We've always been transparent, responsive, accountable. Plus, it's an honor to run for re-election in service to the best community on earth.
A big ask: If you believe in the work that I've done as your councilman, please donate to my re-election campaign. It would be greatly appreciated.
The upside of campaigns is you get to know the community more intimately and form relationships that last a lifetime. The downside of campaigns is that they are expensive: Even if you don’t draw an opponent, you’ll still spend more than $10,000 for kickoff parties, ordering signs, having websites and t-shirts redone, paying for graphic design, etc.
I’m committed to keeping Southlake the special place that we all call home. I’d love your help in doing so. You can visit my website at the link below.
